Slide presentasi visual yang baik dibuat dengan tujuan memaksimalkan kejelasan visual (visual clarity) agar dapat membantu audiens fokus pada muatan penting dalam slide dan juga untuk memudahkan audiens mencerna pesan yang ingin disampaikan presenter. Slide dengan banyak elemen tidak penting (clutter) membuat slide tidak mampu menjalankan fungsinya sebagai alat bantu visual yang baik dalam berpresentasi. Penggunaan white space dalam presentasi diharapkan dapat menciptakan visual yang dapat menarik perhatian audiens.
