Pengaruh Variasi Zeolit terhadap Adsorpsi H₂S di Kilang PPSDM Migas Cepu: Tinjauan Visual dan Perspektif Fisika Material

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi efektivitas zeolit dalam menyerap gas H₂S dari larutan limbah melalui indikator perubahan warna larutan iodin dan tiosulfat. Reaksi redoks antara H₂S dan iodin menyebabkan larutan coklat memudar, sementara titrasi dengan tiosulfat menghilangkan warna biru sebagai bukti bahwa iodin telah sepenuhnya bereaksi. Fenomena ini menunjukkan bahwa H₂S berhasil diadsorpsi oleh zeolit. Mekanisme ini sejalan dengan teori difusi molekuler, di mana molekul H₂S bergerak menuju permukaan dan pori-pori zeolit, kemudian berikatan secara fisik dan kimiawi pada situs aktif di dalam material. Keberhasilan adsorpsi ditandai oleh hilangnya warna-warna indikator secara visual, mengonfirmasi efektivitas difusi dan kapasitas adsorpsi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semakin baik difusi dan kontak antara zeolit dan H₂S, semakin cepat dan jelas perubahan warna terjadi. Studi ini menegaskan bahwa metode pengamatan berbasis visual dan reaksi kimia dapat digunakan sebagai pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengamati efisiensi adsorpsi berdasarkan prinsip fisika permukaan dan material berpori.
