POTENSI GAS ALAM DI INDONESIA
Abstract
Gas bumi merupakan sumber daya alam dengan cadangan terbesar ketiga di dunia setelah batu bara dan minyak bumi. Gas alam pada awalnya tidak dikonsumsi sebagai sumber energi karena kesulitan dalam hal transportas sehingga selalu dibakar ketika diproduksi bersamaan dengan minyak bumi.
Pemanfaatan gas alam di Indonesia tidak hanya untuk transportasi dan rumah tangga saja, tetapi sekarang untuk industry. Produk dari gas alam yang digunakan adalah LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), LNG ( Liquid Natural Gas) dan Coal Bed Methane (CBM) yang merupakan sumber non konvensional yang sedang dikembangkan di Indonesia.
Pada tahun 2015 Indonesia memilii 4 (empat) kilang pengolahan LNG, dengan kapasitas terpasang 39 MTPA. Kilang LNG berlokasi di Arun (6,8 MTPA), Bontang Kalimantan Timur (22,6 MTPA), Tangguh di Papua Barat (7,6 MTPA) dan Donggi Senoro Sulawesi Tengah (2 MTPA).
